Xiaomi’s electric car set to launch in China on March 28

In Beijing, Chinese smartphone manufacturing company Xiaomi officially announced the scheduled launch of its highly anticipated electric car on March 28. The company asserted that Xiaomi’s electric car, the SU7, would be available for delivery immediately upon its launch, as stated in a social media post translated by CNBC.

Xiaomi also disclosed that it is initiating a waitlist for the electric car in 59 stores across 29 cities in China. Although the exterior and technological features of the vehicle were unveiled in late December, specific details regarding the price and delivery date were not provided.

Ambitious Targets for Premium User Base

Xiaomi has set ambitious targets, aiming to attract 20 million premium users for its new electric vehicle, according to President Weibing Lu. In a recent interview with CNBC, Lu emphasized the company’s focus on the premium segment and suggested that deliveries could commence as early as the second quarter.

While Xiaomi’s electric car made its international debut at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Lu cautioned that it might take at least another two or three years before Xiaomi expands the vehicle’s sales to overseas markets.
