How to Manage a Client`s Facebook and Instagram Accounts Like a Pro
Managing a client’s Facebook and Instagram goes beyond posting pretty visuals, it’s about secure access, goal-based strategy, and building a strong brand presence.

Step 1: Get Access — The Secure Way
You should never log in directly to your client’s personal accounts. Use Meta Business Suite (formerly Facebook Business Manager) to manage access professionally.
Set Up Meta Business Suite
For Facebook & Instagram:
Ask the client to create a Meta Business Account (or give you access to their existing one).
They should go to: business.facebook.com
Steps to grant you access:
The client logs in and clicks Settings → People → Add.
They enter your email and assign you a role (Editor, Admin, etc.).
Then, they go to Business Assets:
Add their Facebook Page.
Add their Instagram Account (linked to their FB Page).
Assign you access to each asset (Page, Ad Account, Instagram).
You’ll receive an email invite. Accept it to complete setup.
This keeps things professional, secure, and within Meta’s guidelines.
Step 2: Link Facebook & Instagram Correctly
Your client must link their Instagram to their Facebook Page:
- Go to the Facebook Page.
- Click Settings → Linked Accounts.
- Log in to their Instagram Business Account.
- Confirm it`s properly connected.
If it`s not a Business or Creator Instagram account, convert it first in the Instagram app under Settings → Account → Switch to Professional Account.
