Running Ads on Facebook & Instagram


Facebook and Instagram advertising are managed through the Meta Ads Manager. Here`s a breakdown of the steps:

  1. Set Up a Meta Business Account (if you don`t have one):

    • Go to business.facebook.com.
    • Follow the prompts to create an account and link your Facebook Business Page(s) and Instagram Business Account(s).
  2. Navigate to Ads Manager:

    • Once in your Business Account, go to "Ads Manager" (you might find it in the left-hand menu or under "All Tools").
  3. Create a New Campaign:

    • Click the "Create" button.
  4. Choose Your Campaign Objective:

    • Select an objective that aligns with your marketing goals. Options include:
      • Awareness: Brand Awareness, Reach
      • Consideration: Traffic, Engagement, App Installs, Video Views, Lead Generation, Messages
      • Conversion: Conversions, Catalog Sales, Store Traffic
  5. Set Your Campaign Budget and Schedule:

    • Determine your daily or lifetime budget.
    • Set the start and end dates (or choose to run continuously).
  6. Define Your Target Audience (Ad Set Level):

    • Specify demographics (age, gender, location, language).
    • Target interests and behaviors.
    • Create custom audiences (based on website visitors, customer lists, app users).
    • Build lookalike audiences (people similar to your existing customers).
  7. Choose Your Ad Placements (Ad Set Level):

    • Select where you want your ads to appear. This includes:
      • Facebook: Feed, Stories, In-stream videos, Marketplace, Right column, Instant Articles, Audience Network.
      • Instagram: Feed, Explore, Stories, Reels, Shop.
      • You can choose "Automatic Placements" (recommended for beginners) or "Manual Placements" for more control.
  8. Create Your Ad(s):

    • Choose an ad format (e.g., single image, single video, carousel, collection, Instant Experience).
    • Upload your creative assets (images, videos).
    • Write compelling ad copy (headline, primary text, description).
    • Add a call-to-action button (e.g., "Learn More," "Shop Now," "Sign Up").
  9. Set Up Tracking (Optional but Recommended):

    • Install the Meta Pixel on your website to track conversions and website events.
    • Set up app events if you have a mobile app.
  10. Review and Publish:

    • Double-check all your campaign, ad set, and ad settings.
    • Click "Publish" to submit your ads for review.
