What is Microsoft Word & Why Use It?
Microsoft Word is a word processing program used to type, edit, format, and print professional documents. From school assignments and business letters to flyers and ebooks — if it has text, Word can handle it!

Opening and Closing a Document

To open Word: Double-click the Word icon or search “Word” on your computer.

To open a document: Go to File → Open, then choose your file.

To close it: Click the X at the top-right corner or go to File → Close.
Tip - Word auto-saves if you`re using OneDrive!
Explore the Word Interface
When Word opens, here’s what you’ll see:

Ribbon: The big toolbar at the top with tabs like Home, Insert, and Layout.

Toolbar (Quick Access): Top-left icons like Save, Undo, and Redo.

Status Bar: At the bottom — shows page number, word count, and more.

Creating a New Document
Starting fresh?
Click File → New → Blank Document.
You’ll get a clean page to type on. Time to bring your ideas to life!
