How to Pitch and Get Clients

Digital Marketing

Imagine you`re at a party, and someone asks what you do. You wouldn`t just blurt out, "Hi, I want your money!"
You`d chat, connect, then offer help if it`s the right fit.

That’s what pitching is — a relationship, not a raid.

STEP 1: Know Who You`re Talking To

Question: Can you describe your ideal client in 1–2 sentences?

Why? You can`t pitch to everyone. Are they a local fashion brand? A real estate agent? A coach? Each one has different problems and needs.

Tip: Get crystal clear on:

  • Industry
  • Pain points (e.g., "No time for content," "Low engagement")
  • Where they hang out (LinkedIn? Instagram? Local biz groups?)

STEP 2: Solve, Don’t Sell

Instead of saying:

“Hey! I offer social media services.”

Say this:

“I help busy fashion brands increase sales by creating content that turns followers into buyers.”

Exercise: Write your pitch in this format:
I help [specific client type] achieve [benefit] through [your method].

STEP 3: Craft the Perfect Pitch Message

Whether it`s via email, DM, or voice note, here’s a winning structure:

1. Start with a compliment
“Hey [Name], I love the look of your brand — especially your recent [product/post].”

2. Identify their pain point (gently!)
“I noticed your content is great, but not getting the engagement it deserves.”

3. Offer a solution
“I specialize in helping brands like yours boost visibility and engagement. I’d love to share a few ideas if you`re open to it.”

4. CTA (Call-to-action)
“Would you be open to a quick 15-min chat this week?”

Tip: Keep it SHORT, specific, and about THEM.

STEP 4: Offer Value First

Before asking for anything, give something helpful:

  • A short audit of their page
  • 2–3 tips on improving their Instagram bio or post frequency
  • A sample graphic or caption idea

Interactive Prompt: List one “free value” idea you could give to impress a potential client.

STEP 5: Follow Up Like a Pro

Most clients don’t say yes the first time — but follow-up (not spam) wins the game.

Follow-up tips:

  • Wait 2–3 days, then check in politely.
  • Add more value: “Just came across a trend your brand could use!”
  • Be human: “Hey! Just circling back, totally understand if now’s not the best time.”

Mindset Shift: You`re a Problem-Solver, Not a Beggar

People PAY to solve problems.
You’re not “asking for money” — you’re offering results. Confidence is key.
