Step-by-Step: Let’s Edit Your First Video


1. Open a Canva Video Template or Start from Scratch

Choose from “TikTok Video,” “Instagram Reel,” or “Video Presentation”

2. Upload Your Video Clips

Go to Uploads > Upload Files
Add videos from your phone or computer
Drag them to the timeline at the bottom

3. Trim & Split Your Clips

Click on the video
Use the handles on both ends to cut out unwanted parts
Need to break it into two scenes?
Tap “Split” (scissors icon) to divide the clip

4. Add Text & Animations

Click “Text” on the sidebar
Choose bold fonts for titles
Add animation to your text for that pop effect

5. Add Music or Voiceover

Go to Elements > Audio
You can also upload your own audio
Adjust volume levels to balance video and sound

6. Add Transitions Between Clips (Optional)

Click the small box between clips on the timeline
Choose from Fade, Slide, or Circle Wipe

7. Preview and Export

Watch your full video using the play button
Click “Share > Download > MP4 Video”
