Your Body Composition

As I learn about the body, I get more impressed. The organization is astonishing. Cells come together to form tissues. Tissues organize themselves into organs. Organs work in a way even scientists are yet to fully understand to form systems. Systems work together in a wonderfully coordinated manner to give us the body. When you view the body with a reductionist mindset, you say this does this which causes that. But when you consider the body holistically, the awesomeness of the miraculous workings of the body dawns on you. It is my belief that such a miracle as the body is not an accident.

The various parts and apps of your phone work to give you the functionalities of your phone. Somebody or people produced that phone. That phone is not an accident. While I can say that the function of the phone is evolving, I cannot say that the phone was not made. Even though our genes may be evolving, I believe God created the body and the Bible is not silent concerning what makes up the body. Genesis 2:7 tells us, The Lord God formed man out of the clay of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and so man became a living being. So here is a book written thousands of years ago telling us that the building material of which man is made is the clay of the ground and the breath of life.

Our body is literally a chemical factory, composed of almost every element in the mineral kingdom. Listing only the major elements, man is composed of oxygen (65%), carbon (15%), hydrogen (10%), nitrogen (3%), calcium (2%), phosphorus (1%), along with trace amounts of sulfur, sodium, chlorine, fluorine, potassium, magnesium, iron, silicon, iodine, copper, lead, aluminum, etc.

From the above, it is clear that man is made up of primarily of airborne elements (breath of life), while the remaining elements come from the earth (dust of the ground), about 4%. The Bible repeatedly confirms that God used these building materials in the making of man: In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground: for out of it was thou taken; for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return (Gen. 3:19). See also Psalm 103:14 and Ecclesiastes 12:7.1

What is science telling us today? The elements contained in the earth and air makes up the body. I see science catching up with what the Bible said millennia ago.
