The 5G Network - How 5G Works - How Faster is it

The 5G Network

The future depends on connectivity, from artificial intelligence and self-driving cars to telemedicine and mixed reality to as yet undreamt technologies.

All the things that make our lives easier, healthier, and safer will require high-speed and always-on internet connections.

Therefore, to keep up with the explosion of new connected gadgets and vehicles, not to talk about the deluge of streaming video, the mobile industry has introduced something called "The 5G Network".

This network will bring speeds of around 10 gigabits per second to your phone, which is more than 600 times faster than the 4G speeds. Read on to learn more about the 5G network!

What is The 5G Network

In telecommunications, 5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks.

Cellular phone companies began deploying it worldwide in 2019 and is the planned successor to the 4G networks which provide connectivity to most current cellphones.

The 5G Network enables a new kind of network. It is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines and devices.

However, 5G wireless technology delivers higher multi-Gbps peak data speeds, more reliability, increased availability, ultra-low latency, massive network capacity, and a more uniform user experience to more users.

Also, it meets and surpasses the massive growth of data and connectivity of IoT.

What Will The 5G Network be Used For?

  • Used to connect billions of machines and devices. The Internet of Things (IoT) is revolutionizing modern industrial processes and applications
  • Real-time control of devices, autonomous driving, vehicle to vehicle communications, and remote medical care are few examples of ultra-reliable low latency communications.
  • Enhanced mobile broadband will feature dramatically faster data speeds. This will feature fixed wireless internet for homes and greater connectivity for travelers.

The 5G improvements

  • 100x Efficient Traffic: More small cells will drive network hyper-densification.
  • 100x Network Efficiency: Optimized network energy consumption, with more efficient processing.
  • 10x Decrease in Latency: Providing latency as low as 1 ms.
  • 10x Experienced Throughout: Multiple Gbps peak rates.
  • 3x Spectrum Efficiency: More efficient signaling for IoT connectivity.
  • 10x Connection Density: More efficient signaling for IoT connectivity.

How Does The 5G Network Works?

5G works Like other cellular networks, it uses a system of cell sites that divide their territory into sectors and send encoded data through radio waves. Meanwhile, each cell site must be connected to a network backbone, whether through a wired or wireless backhaul connection.

However, this network uses a type of encoding called OFDM. OFDM is similar to the encoding that 4GLTE uses. The 5G air interface is designed for much lower latency and greater flexibility than LTE. Although it has the same airwaves as 4G, the 5G radio system can get bout 30% better speed.
