During the early years of a human`s life, normal cells divide faster to allow the individual to grow. After the person becomes an adult, most cells divide only to replace dying cells or even to repair injuries.

What is Breast Cancer?

This happens when the cells in the breast begin to develop or grow out of control and spread through the body or destroy other tissues such as duct glands.

The most common type of breast cancer is ductal carcinoma, it begins in the cells of the ducts. Sometimes it begins in the cells of the lobules and in other tissues in the breast. Ductal carcinoma in situ is a condition in which abnormal cells in the body are found in the lining of the ducts and they haven`t spread outside the duct.

If you notice any of them, quickly consult your doctor for treatment.

How to Detect Breast Cancer

Ways of early detection of breast cancer before becoming devastating are:
  • Clinical-self examination.
  • Breast-self examination.

Clinical Examination

The clinical breast examination can only be done by trained medical professionals. The health workers will thoroughly examine the breast to rule out cancer, just a few minutes, and the check is done.

Self Examination

It is always advisable to carry out breast examination about a week after their menstrual cycle, while for those who have reached menopause, a particular time in each month will be alright.
This involves only a few minutes, get a mirror, check for any change in the normal look or feel of the breast. You can even ask your close friend to help check for any sign of breast cancer.

Breast is made up of glands called lobules that can make milk and thin tubes called ducts that carry the milk from the lobules to the nipple. The tissue also contains lymph nodes, blood vessels, fat and connective tissue.

The most common type of breast cancer is ductal carcinoma, it begins in the cells of the ducts. Sometimes it begins in the cells of the lobules and in other tissues in the breast.

Breast cancer that spreads from where it began in the ducts or lobules to surrounding tissue is called invasive breast cancer. In inflammatory breast cancer, the breast may look red and swollen and feels warm because the cancer cells block the lymph vessels in the skin.
